The ambulatory clinic is open from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Scheduled appointments are encouraged. The clinic is staffed with by physician, mid-level providers, RNs and LPN and offers on-site care of both acute and chronic medical problems, as well as laboratory send-out service.
Pharmacy services are provided on-site and most prescriptions can be prepared at the time of the visit. The pharmacy director will provide education on medications. Prescription mail service and prepackaging are also offered.
Services that cannot be provided at WCHC itself can be requested by the provider staff and patients are then referred to local or regional outside facilities. These are prioritized to those with the most urgent medical needs.
Our dental clinic currently operates two days per week (Wednesday & Friday) and is staffed by a dentist and a group of dental technicians. General family dentistry services are provided by appointment only.
Our nursing director serves as the community health nurse, to ensure that our served community is made aware of important health issues or hazards and that appropriate steps are taken to minimize the spread of sicknesses.
The CHR program provides services to link us to community members whose health challenges make travel to WCHC difficult or unsafe. CHRs can deliver services (e.g. medications) to patients at home and transport them to other facilities for appointments.
WCHC is the recipient of funding from the IHS (Indian Health Service) SDPI (Specials Diabetes Program for Indians), which supports and supplements the provision of services at WCHC to prevent, detect, and treat diabetes mellitus and it's complications.
WCHC has a fully equipped Wellness and Fitness Center adjacent to the clinic building, staffed by a certified fitness trainer. Fitness programs are offered and opening hours include evening access for users’ convenience.
Counseling services are currently offered on an alternating weekly basis by a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in community outreach. Medical psychiatric care is offered locally through PRC by a provider's referral.
WCHC now offers chiropractor services to eligible native tribes on Wednesday mornings and afternoons. General chiropractor services are provided by appointment only.
WCHC works in conjunction with the Iowa Tribe's Domestic Violence/ Sexual Assault Prevention Program by providing confidential counseling services to individuals and families.
We are equipped to offer a full range of laboratory services by sending patient samples to a leading regional reference laboratory.
